Applications

Fluoropolymer products are used in industrial and commercial applications, such as cabling solutions, pharmaceutical and biopharma manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Cabling Solutions

With so much invested in your data communications network, you want to protect it as best you can. In a fire, cables can be a significant source of fire load and smoke, and smoke can be a leading cause of IT system damage and personal injury.

A PTFE resin can withstand a maximum use temperature of 600°F. This resin is typically applied to a thickness of 1-3 mils.

Fluoroplastic resins are designed to fulfill the needs of a vast array of insulated wire and cable products. FEP, PFA, PTFE, PVDF and ETFE fluoroplastic resins are ideal choices for insulation and jacketing applications where low flammability, exceptional dielectric properties, high stress-crack resistance, chemical inertness, and thermal cycling capabilities are required.

Food Processing Industry

Introducing a new way to fight problems with plugging, corrosion, and sticking during food processing. Components and linings made with Fluoropolymer resin can help cut equipment maintenance costs, increase uptime, increase throughput, and safeguard product purity. They also allow use of the same equipment to make a wider range of food products. Easy cleaning reduces the frequency, amount, and severity of cleaning chemicals used in processing facilities -
- a benefit to the environment. Reduced downtime for cleaning can potentially improve plant productivity by 15-25%!

Industrial Coatings

Fluoropolymer industrial coatings are available in both powder and liquid. The versatility of these coatings allows for almost unlimited application to a wide variety of part sizes and configurations, always adding value far beyond the inherent nonstick qualities.

Fluoropolymer coatings spray on like paint and bake to a tough, inert finish. By combining heat resistance with almost total chemical inertness, excellent dielectric stability, and a low coefficient of friction, fluoropolymer coatings offer a balance of properties unbeatable by any other material.

Flue Gas Heat Exchangers

The power generation and waste incineration industries need new developments to meet the demand for sustainability and to achieve their energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction and heat recovery targets. Fluoroplastics pressure tubing in flue gas heat exchangers provide proven long-term hydrostatic pressure performance, and offer the high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance necessary for flue gas desulphurization in fossil fuelled power plants.

Pharmaceuticals and Biopharma Manufacturing

PTFE and PFA are strong candidates for pharmaceutical and biopharma processing equipment because they have excellent chemical and thermal resistance. Their molecules have continuous non-reactive surfaces and are compatible with virtually all chemicals and solvents. They are far more resistant to chemical attack than conventional chlorinated and hydrocarbon plastics, and have far higher service temperatures.

Fluoroadditives

PTFE additive powder can enhance abrasion resistance, reduce coefficient of friction and mechanical wear, reduce surface contamination, and modify appearance. PTFE fluoroadditives also provide specific benefits to specialized products. For example, thermoplastic parts, such as gears, benefit from improved wear resistance and reduced friction. Stick-slip behavior can be eliminated. Elastomeric seals for diverse environments improve in tear and abrasion resistance. Lithographic, flexographic, and gravure inks can be formulated for better image protection and higher productivity.
